EEG and video EEG
Recording the brain's electrical activity to help diagnose seizures and epilepsy. Done at Narayani Hospital.
What is an EEG?
An EEG (electroencephalogram) records the electrical activity of the brain. Small sensors are placed on the scalp. The test is painless and no electricity is passed into the body. EEG is used mainly to help diagnose and classify seizures and epilepsy, and in some other conditions affecting the brain.
What is a video EEG?
A video EEG records the EEG and a video of the patient at the same time. This lets the doctor match what is seen during an episode with the brain's electrical activity. Video EEG at Narayani Hospital includes epilepsy monitoring.
How to prepare
- Come with freshly washed hair and scalp. Do not apply oil, gel or hair spray.
- No fasting is needed. Eat normally.
- Take your usual medicines unless the doctor has told you otherwise.

Our staff will tell you how long your test will take when you book.
